The South African Early Childhood Development Teachers United, well known as "SAECDTU"; is the advocate and vanguard of the teachers, in particular, foundation phase teachers in South Africa. SAECDTU carries the DNA of the Early Childhood Development practitioners, whom are currently undergoing the function shift at the Department of Basic Education and are not yet part of the mainstream education, although announced a priority in South Africa according to SASA. SAECDTU carries the DNA of the Grade R teachers, whom experienced an injustice and ill-treatment for the past 28 years, since 1996, throughout all failures of implementation by the Department of Education (DOE) and or Department of Basic Education (DBE).
SAECDTU carries a DNA of SGB educators, who are allegedly employed by the School Governing Body (SGB), the employer of all SGB educators in South Africa on paper declared by the Department. As the Department of Basic Education alludes its position of being responsible for subsidies only towards the budget for SGB teachers but not involved in its administrative processes. The SBGs are officially endorsed as the employer of our SGB Grade R teachers in South Africa. All allegations of maladministration, irregularities and mistreatment towards teachers is single-handed by the SGBS, with help of the Department.
SAECDTU carries a DNA of Retired teachers who couldn't receive a fraction or retired penniless by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) after serving the state for years. SAECDTU has gathered a satisfactory investigative report of many teachers whom were directed to SASSA (South African Social Services Association) for a pension grant, as educators, instead of the GEPF (Government Employees Pension Fund).
SAECDTU is an official home for all foundation phase teachers in South Africa. SAECDTU is determined and committed to deliver justice and dignity to its members. All indignities and injustices by the Department of Education [made by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and the Department of Higher Education (DHE).
SAECDTU is a formation by teachers, for teachers, led by the foundation phase practitioners in South Africa. In principle and under legal guidance, SAECDTU matched to the National Department of Basic Education in Tshwane, delivered a 'Dignity Memorandum' on behalf of thousands signed petitioners with more than 400 grievances, in which could potentially result to a possible criminal liability against the teachers for 28 years.
SAECDTU, in its formative stage has successfully implemented its growth plan of action (GPA2032) in all nine (9) provinces and endorsed all interim provincial structures, regions and branches.
SAECDTU modus operandi is purely to fight for the rights and the economic efficiency of its members in education.
SAECDTU main objective is to impact the education system positively through an equity-based relationship between the employer and our members in order to enhance our GDP and South Africa's economy. SAECDTU leads teachers revolution in our lifetime and to a fix for the future generation of teachers in South Africa.
